AIT will host 4 guided tours at Art Fair Tokyo 2015 as the fair`s educational partner for the 4th year.
An art collector, writer, curator, and art media consultant will be your guide to explore "what art collecting is about" "the basics of art writing", "Venice Biennial" and "an overview of the Tokyo art scene".
Participation fee includes the fair`s 1-day passport (2,000JY tax incl.) so participants can enjoy the fair after the tour.

1. How Collectors get the most out of Art Fair Tokyo *Japanese Only

The collection of contemporary artworks he accumulated as a simple company employee ("salaryman"), as well as his house which he built with the contribution of various artists, have extensively been covered by the Japanese and international press or displayed in exhibitions in places such as Tokyo Opera City's Art Gallery or the Daelim Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul. In 2011, a great exhibition of his collection was organized at the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Taiwan, and in 2012 the BEXCO convention centre in Busan with the video and visual works. Miyatsu Daisuke is the author of "Gendai Art wo KaÔ!" (Let's buy contemporary art!), published in Japanese as part of the Shueisha Shinsho Collection, as well as in traditional Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean. "Gendai Art Keizaigaku" (Contemporary Art Economics), published by Kobunsha is his latest book. |

Currently working as a curator, lecturer, and facilitator of Artist in Residence Program at Arts Initiative Tokyo [AIT]. After completing MSc in Contemporary Art and Art Theory at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) in 2005, worked as an independent curator in Edinburgh. Curated Aiko Miyanaga's one person exhibition 'Tales dedicated to the dark' (2007 / Sleeper Gallery), and was an assistant curator of 'Metronome Think Tank Tokyo in collaboration with Documenta 12 magazines' (2006). At AIT, has curated several art projects and Residency Program exhibitions such as 'Divided Against Ourselves' (2013 / YAMAMOTO GENDAI), 'Home Again' (2012 / Hara Museum of Contemporary Art), and 'Round' (2011 / hiromiyoshii roppongi). She was a guest curator of ARCUS Project in 2013. In 2015, she has curated 'Shuffling Spaces' (Gallery Seescape / Thailand), and co-curated 'Invisible Energy' (St Paul St Gallery / New Zealand). |

Buying art in a new city may be intimidating in some ways. The guide will help you to learn about the background of more than 20 contemporary artworks and know their price by visiting 10 highly acclaimed gallery booths at the fair. Through the tour, you can see the trends of Tokyo and be familiar with the gallerists.

Currently works for OCULA (Art portal website focused on Asia Pacific region) and runs AZITO (online gallery of Japanese contemporary art). She moved back to Tokyo from two years living in NY. Before moving to the art industry in 2006, she also worked in the Central Bank of Japan after graduating from Keio University. Art x IT x Abroad is her main focus to spread the idea of artworks worldwide. |
