Åkerlund's practice takes its starting point in the periphery of visual perception. Areas, objects or events which through a change of focus can become available to our senses, shifting from invisible to visible. Her techniques span over video, drawing and installation. Åkerlund holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy (SE), selected exhibitions include: Projet Gutenberg, Galerie Jeanroch Dard, Paris, (FR), FATAMORGANA#2, Galleria Omphalos, Terlizzi, (IT), MKH, Galleri Arnstedt, Östra Karup, (SE), Art on Paper 2012, Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, North Carolina, (US), Our Origins, Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, (US)
