Matteo Rosa (Born in 1978, Italy)

Matteo Rosa

Born in Italy in 1978. Currently lives and works in Malmö (Sweden).

At the core of Rosa's work is an interest in the subject of awareness. This brings him to a fascination for the interconnectedness of things, the play between form and formlessness, transience and stillness, imagination and presence. His practice explores art's potential to address forgotten or neglected aspects of the self, such as the primal feeling of being in one's own body at a time when we are exposed to the highest amount of external information in history. He employs various media, from drawing and painting to photography, video and installation.

Matteo Rosa trained at Edinburgh College of Art and Malmö Art Academy. In recent years his work has been shown at The Boiler Room, Oslo (NO), Galleri Ping Pong, Malmö (SE), Fondazione Galleria Civica, Trento (IT), Galleri Arnstedt, Östra Karup (SE), Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm (SE), Skånes Konstförening, Malmö (SE), E:ventGallery, London (UK), Viafarini, Milan (IT), Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (DK), Museo Civico, Riva del Garda (IT), Krognoshuset, Lund (SE) and Galleri Mors Mössa, Gothenburg (SE).
